Scrapbooking - Cheltenham

I got the stunning DCWV paper stack 'Creme de la Creme' and found the beautiful flocked paper and had to use it in my album. I needed some photos to co-ordinate with the cardstock and found my photos of Cheltenham matched so well. I fussy cut the images and created a border with one piece and a corner with another. I cut some of the other images to highlight some aspects of the page. I cut my title using the Cricut Blackletter cartridge. I love the 'olde' english font feel to this cartridge.

Recipe Books

I have started preparing for Christmas early. I used the DCWV paper stack, Nana's Kitchen as inspiration for these recipe books. I have completed two so far and have two nearly done. I used Tim Holtz Distress Ink pads to co-ordinate with the cardstock and the colours were Faded Jeans, Peeled Paint and Victorian Velvet. I added Kaiser diamantes and a gorgeous little paper rose. I bound the book with a Zutter Bind-it-all and used Derivan Kindy Glitz to highlight certain aspects of the design. The inside covers were painted with Folk Art metallic paint in light blue and I fussy cut images from one of the DCWV papers. I also used the Fiskars scallop punch for the edges.

I computer printed the recipe cards and created the file in word to fit my cards. I used my Cricut to cut out the cupcakes and created two different ones, one from Home Decor and one cupcake from Wild Card. I inked them and added "sugar" crystals to decorate the 'icing'. I fussy cut some leaves from the Stampin Up roller which I inked in Stampin Up Certainly Celery. I added some Kaiser paper flowers and more bling.

Turkish Plunder Cushion

I did a class with Gabrielle ver Straeten and created a beautiful turkish plunder cushion. Here are some pictures of my silk cushion.

Machine embroidery

I went to the Wellington Quilt Syposium in 2009 and went to a class with Sandra Meech. She inspired me to create this piece. I am not sure what I am going to do with it yet, but I think I will frame it.

It is made with white cotton homespun fabric on both sides, which is sandwiched with cotton felt. I painted the fabric with acrylic paint and painted some tyvek in the same paint colours. I then machine embroidered the fabric heavily and this is the final piece. If you want to see some of Sandra's amazing work, check out her website http://www.sandrameech.com/index.html.

Pencil rolls

These rolls are absolutely devine, a friend made them for me and I love them. They hold my craft markers and as they fold over, the pens cannot fall out and get lost, here are two before adding my markers.... Brilliant idea. Now my other half wants these in leather for his woodwork tools....

My first quilt - my inspiration for my latest quilt

I loved the possibilities of the pattern of this quilt and took ages finding the perfect colours to make the design work for me. I loved the non traditional christmas feel of the quilt and fell in love with machine embroidery. I have an amazing friend who taught me to machine quilt (and later introduced me to scrapbooking and card making) and I have been hooked ever since.

I am busy quiliting a 'matching' quilt that will go really well with this quilt. I will be posting it as soon as it nears completion. I have quilted the design heavily and the first picture shows this.

My first book making exercise - my introduction to the love of paper

I made this book with a wonderful, absolutely creative individual who kindly showed me how to make handmade books. This was my first attempt and since then I have made quite a few and they have served as travel journal gifts, baby book gifts, wedding memento gifts, dream journals, journals, photo memory books, and works of art...

Since making this book and encorporating the butterfly from a paper napkin, I have been hooked on using paper napkins. I love how the image can be transferred to scrapbooks, cards, books, fabric and so much more.

Green dangle pendant

I posted the pink and blue flower dangle necklaces, and then I decided to make myself an enhancer for my chain and used the gorgeous green bead I posted a while ago. I love this, it is lovely, but it is really gorgeous and has crystals and a raised surface. The little tassles do hang down and not at the funny angles that came out in the photo.

I will be posting some of the quilting and scrapbooking I have been doing, as well as gorgeous notepads, some boxes, and some great mini books.

Wired pendants

I have also been creating wired pendants with feature beads. These are great fun to make and I love the final result. I wear mine on either a plain gold belcher chain or a plain silver belcher chain, but these would look stunning on ribbon, leather thongs, etc.
