Hexagons and Bedford Scrapbook Layout

Hope you are all well and having a great time. Being in Auckland, I was sufficiently far away from Christchurch so that we were not affected at all by the recent quakes. My thoughts are with you all during this time while you rebuild and reflect.

I posted a layout of Bedford a while ago and here is the other layout I did for my photo's from there. I loved the brick buildings and took hundreds of photos (my six week trip was documented with over 6000 photo's so I have been selective (or as selective as you can be when looking at so many images) and these made the final cut. To prevent having about 3000 albums for one holiday, I have done a lot of layouts where I try to incorporate multiple photos on my layout and also try and use all the pamphlets and memorabilia that I dragged home.

Hope you enjoy. The font is Cuttlebug 'Hippie Chick' and the hexagons are using my Creative Memories Custom Cutting System. I started off my paper crafting with these tools and still reach for them as an when I need. I still need to work out how to 'create' larger shapes like these on my cricut as this will make the whole process a lot easier.

Scrapbooking - Santa Maria Sofra and Minerva

I loved Rome and found the churches and buildings to be amazing. I loved how there were these ancient structures and someone had put modern touches to them. I loved how there were stunning sculptures throughout the city and how accessible the beauty and art was.

I loved the colour of the bricks and wanted to echo this in my layout. This is using white cardstock and sponging it. I used a mix of Stampin Up colours including Really Rust, Bravo Burgundy and Pumpkin Pie. I then used the So Swirly Roller and created the lovely swirl effect, and added script stamps over some of the cardstock to have a contrasting paper. I used plain cardstock and cut the letters from Cuttlebug "Curls n Swirls" alphabet. I added journalling and some hand dyed crocheted flowers dyed using the co-ordinating inks from the layout.

I used circular cutouts to highlight the fluid architectural forms in my photos.

Scrapbooking - Olney

I encorporated real lace into my layout. I had a beautiful Walter Knabe design paper and thought this would work beautifully with lace and ribbon. I cut the photos and frames with my Spellbinder rectangles and used Kindy Glitz to emphasize the lace effect of the scallops. I added some stamping and glimmer mist as well as a few flourished die cuts, lace paper, paper flowers and diamante's to finish of the look.

Scrapbooking - Bedford

Hope you are well, it has been hectic of late and I have not spent much time uploading my photos. I have finished the engagement scrapbook album and a few other projects which I will show you as I have time to upload them, as well as keeping up with my studies, working and finding time to craft...

During my European Trip, my main point of reference was Bedford, as I had family friends who I stayed with there. It is an interesting area of the country and is close to Milton Keynes, Olney and Cambridge and the train to London left frequently, making it an ideal base.

I had to encorporate lace into my layouts as Bedford and Olney were the lace making centres of England, and therefore I wanted to be sympathetic to this heritage. I loved the brickwork and symmetry in the design of a number of the buildings and wanted to encorporate a number of photos at once into my layout.

I used Creative Memories for the hexagonal shapes, Bosskut dies for the flourish, the title was cut in Cuttlebug "Hippie Chick" and Bosskut "Apricot" fonts. I will upload the hexagonal designed page layout soon.

Hope you enjoy!

Scrapbooking - Cheltenham

I got the stunning DCWV paper stack 'Creme de la Creme' and found the beautiful flocked paper and had to use it in my album. I needed some photos to co-ordinate with the cardstock and found my photos of Cheltenham matched so well. I fussy cut the images and created a border with one piece and a corner with another. I cut some of the other images to highlight some aspects of the page. I cut my title using the Cricut Blackletter cartridge. I love the 'olde' english font feel to this cartridge.

Finally, I am posting some projects - hope you enjoy!!!

Hi, I have been creating a huge number of projects, little keepsake recipe books for that special recipe, tabletop keepsake books, an engagement album, some of my europe trip album, cards, cards and more cards, a birthday calendar reminder book, a wedding planner and jewellery.

First off is my latest scrapbook page - Stonehenge, I decided to cut the photos to mimic the circular stone structure and cut the title in Cricut Stone Script. (I used the mat feature too and love the irregular pattern of this font). I cut some brochures and stuck these on tiny tags.

Enjoy

Projects for May

And you thought I was being slack and had not been doing much other than studying? Hope you are all well and those of you in the Southern Hemisphere with me are all acclimitising to the cold. We had a really cold night last night and am rugged up warm with the fire going in the background.

This month I have not done much from an individual creative process, but I have been to quite a few inspirational classes and made some amazing projects and used the techniques and ideas to create some more projects.
I am still after eighteen months working on my Europe Trip album. I am slowly creating pages and will one day finish this album, but in no rush, I have a great slideshow presentation and was proudly showing this off to all and sundry, but will one day have a stunning art album with my photos, memorabilia and paper art. I love collecting all the booklets, brochures and pamphlets and adding them to my album, along with tags, receipts and tickets and this means that they are not lost or sitting in a box and never being looked at. For me, I love looking back at my albums and remembering the great time I had and the special memories the pictures of tickets evoke.
This is one of the layouts I have completed. I love the symmetry and geometry in the Eiffel Tower and decided I would try and capture some of this in my layout.

I used black 12 x 12 cardstock from Stampin Up. I then rolled silver Encore ink and the Stampin Up So Swirly roller on the background. I cut some Quickutz adhesive backed foil from the Quickutz Coutry Collection Paris - the Eiffel Tower and a Quickutz Border Die , I also cut the Spellbinder's Fleur De Lis Pendant from the foil. I used the Cuttlebug Harlequin Die and cut the flower shapes. I used Kaiser Craft paper flowers in black and white and cut the title from Storybook Cartridge for the Cricut. I used some Angelina Fibre and stamped the Hero Arts Poetic Prints (with black Stazon) onto the Angelina Fibre and cut the frames from Storybook as well. I inked the edges with Encore silver ink and added some fibres. The rose is from Stampin Up. I stamped an image of the Eiffel Tower onto cardstock and mounted that on the Spellbinders Pendant.

I hope you like it.
