Hi everyone, I have not given up on papercraft just yet, but I am really enjoying quilting at the moment, and after a long spell of having my quilts on the backburner, it is fabulous to get behind the machine and create something again. I love threadwork and creating a stunning background on a quilt is such a great feeling for me. I love the experience and find it quite therapeautic.
I have completed all the blocks so far and appliqued my designs onto the surface and I have begun the fun part of stitching... I have hit a temporary snag (I don't have the colours I need) so have ordered some Sulky Threads and they should arrive soon..... I will post photos of the finished quilt soon.
Have a wonderful weekend

Machine embroidery
I went to the Wellington Quilt Syposium in 2009 and went to a class with Sandra Meech. She inspired me to create this piece. I am not sure what I am going to do with it yet, but I think I will frame it.
It is made with white cotton homespun fabric on both sides, which is sandwiched with cotton felt. I painted the fabric with acrylic paint and painted some tyvek in the same paint colours. I then machine embroidered the fabric heavily and this is the final piece. If you want to see some of Sandra's amazing work, check out her website http://www.sandrameech.com/index.html.
My first quilt - my inspiration for my latest quilt
I loved the possibilities of the pattern of this quilt and took ages finding the perfect colours to make the design work for me. I loved the non traditional christmas feel of the quilt and fell in love with machine embroidery. I have an amazing friend who taught me to machine quilt (and later introduced me to scrapbooking and card making) and I have been hooked ever since.
I am busy quiliting a 'matching' quilt that will go really well with this quilt. I will be posting it as soon as it nears completion. I have quilted the design heavily and the first picture shows this.

Quilting
I have a wall quilt in the pipeline and will post some details soon. It is to go with an existing quilt and they should work as a pair.
I will also be posting some images of bamboo tile bracelets soon (want to make a whole lot of these as gifts) and some twisted wire and feature bead pendants.
Look forward to spending some time crafting away. I am also creating an engagement album for my cousin, so will post some pictures of the finished pages soon.
Have a wonderful day and catch up soon!!!

Fabric diary/journal covers
Every week I meet up with a wonderful group of women who keep me inspired to continue creating. Each week we have a different project and everyone contributes. It is a fabulous melting pot. Each of us has a very distinct artistic style and the group dynamic means we each grow, learn and challenge our ideas and methods.
One project we had great fun with was creating a custom journal cover. Bought diaries and journals are very plain and uninspiring.
A wonderful friend made me a diary cover and I love it. It is absolutely stunning and a great reminder of this amazing person when I open my diary and and see the gorgeous cover.
She kindly showed us how to make the covers and I made a visual diary cover. In this wee journal, I write my ideas for scrapbook pages, invitations, cards, techniques, quilt ideas and so much more, and it is housed beautifully below the stunning cover.
