Fabric diary/journal covers

Every week I meet up with a wonderful group of women who keep me inspired to continue creating. Each week we have a different project and everyone contributes. It is a fabulous melting pot. Each of us has a very distinct artistic style and the group dynamic means we each grow, learn and challenge our ideas and methods.

One project we had great fun with was creating a custom journal cover. Bought diaries and journals are very plain and uninspiring.

A wonderful friend made me a diary cover and I love it. It is absolutely stunning and a great reminder of this amazing person when I open my diary and and see the gorgeous cover.

She kindly showed us how to make the covers and I made a visual diary cover. In this wee journal, I write my ideas for scrapbook pages, invitations, cards, techniques, quilt ideas and so much more, and it is housed beautifully below the stunning cover.

Card Index Box - pictures

Card Index Box

Making and giving hand made cards is a fabulous pasttime for me and recently I have had no where to put my cards when I finish them and inevitably they get lost, damaged or given to someone else. So, came up with a great way of storing them. Got a box (from the local $1,2 and $3 store) which was already covered in silver paper. I was in the process of desigining a black and white layout with silver (having just found Quickutz stunning adhesive backed metal - drool) and thought my index cards would be great in the same theme.

I will post pictures of the index cards shortly. Hopefully those of you who have replied to my email about your birthday should now receive stunning handmade cards personalised specially for you.

I am now focusing on a Christmas Quilt - Santa's Village and will upload pictures soon.

All the best and hope you having a lovely weekend.

Welcome

Hi, welcome to my blog. As I am sure you can tell, I am very new to web publishing, and I apologise for the changes that will take place.

I love craft of any sort and love the tactile process of creating something beautiful.

I started crafting by making clothes for my dolls with small scraps of left over fabric and using cardboard boxes to make homes for them. This started a lifelong love affair with creating.

I created my first scrapbook when I was twelve, full of photo's, journalling, drawing and memorabilia. My scrapbooks have only evolved as I have better (and more expensive) tools. I still love personalising my photos and adding facts, thoughts and feelings and things I have collected. Card making is a further outlet of scrapbooking and allows me to give away some of my creations to loved ones.

I am a true magpie and collect all sorts of bits and bobs. (The only problem I face now is running out of space....)

I love beading and glass beads and crystals hold a great deal of inspiration for me. I love bold, chunky pieces with surprise elements such as a bug or bold colour contrasts. Butterflies and flowers are a favourite and textured beads are simply devine.

Fabric is also a great source of inspiration and I love hand and machine embroidery and adding beads, charms and fibres to make a textured surface. Quilting is another passion and I love applique and heavily quilting the surface of my quilts.

Thanks again for stopping by and I will update the blog with photos and descriptions of the projects as they happen.

All the best

Jen
